How to play
- Press SPIN! – the wheel gives you a topic.
- Think of three statements about yourself on that topic: two true, one made up.
- Say all three, in any order, with your best straight face.
- The others vote: which one is the lie? Then you reveal it.
- Everybody who guessed right gets a point – and if nobody did, you get one.
Why a topic helps
“Tell us two truths and a lie” is easy to say and surprisingly hard to answer: the blank page. A topic – your childhood, food, a talent you have – narrows it down, and the stories that come out are better. Every topic leaves the wheel once it has been used.
How to make a good lie
- Make the lie as boring as the truths. Nobody believes “I met the president”.
- Make one truth sound like a lie – the strangest thing that has ever happened to you.
- Keep the details. “I broke my arm in 2015, skiing in Austria” sounds more true than “I broke my arm”.
For classes and teams
Two truths and a lie is one of the best icebreakers for a new class, a new team or a workshop: everybody talks once, everybody learns something, and nobody has to share more than they want. Add your own topics – the course, the project, the city – one per line:
