Two ways to play
- Roll the dice here. The page rolls five dice for you. Tap a die to keep it, roll the others again – up to three rolls – then tap a box on the score sheet. The sheet shows in grey what each box would score with the dice on the table.
- Real dice: just the score sheet. Play with your own dice at the table and type the scores in. The sums, the bonus and the total add up as you go.
Type the names of the players – up to eight – and the sheet gets a column for each.
How the game goes
- On your turn, roll all five dice.
- Keep the dice you like and roll the rest again. You may roll three times in all, and you may stop after the first or the second.
- Write the result into one free box of your column – even if it scores nothing.
- After thirteen rounds every box is full. The highest total wins.
The boxes
- Ones to Sixes: the sum of the dice showing that number. Three fours are 12 in Fours.
- Bonus: 35 points when the upper section adds up to 63 or more – three of every number.
- Three of a kind and Four of a kind: the sum of all five dice.
- Full house: three of one number and two of another, 25 points.
- Small straight: four in a row (1-2-3-4, 2-3-4-5 or 3-4-5-6), 30 points.
- Large straight: five in a row, 40 points.
- Yahtzee: five of a kind, 50 points.
- Chance: any dice, their sum.
Extra Yahtzees
Rolled five of a kind again, with 50 already in the Yahtzee box? That is a 100-point bonus, and you may write the roll into any free box as a joker: a full house, a straight or the upper box of that number, at full value. The score sheet here counts it for you.
A few tactics
- Aim for the bonus early: three or more of a number in the upper section is worth more than it looks.
- Keep Chance for a bad roll at the end, not for the first so-so turn.
- Four in a row after two rolls? Go for the large straight – the small one is safe anyway.
- A zero in Yahtzee late in the game is better than ruining the upper section.
Yahtzee is a trademark of Hasbro; this page is a free score sheet and dice for the classic game of five dice, which is also known as Kniffel, Generala and Yacht.
