What is International Women’s Day?
International Women’s Day celebrates the achievements of women and calls for equal rights. In some countries it is a public holiday, and women are given flowers.
Ways to mark the day
- Say thank you to a woman who has made a difference to you.
- Read a book by a woman, or about one.
- Join a local event, or support a women’s organization.
How the countdown works
The clock counts down to the 8th of March on your own device’s time, so it reaches zero at midnight where you are. When the day is over, it starts again for next year. Full screen puts it on a classroom board or a big screen. To count down to something of your own, enter it under Your own event.
