Go, went, gone
The wheel shows English verbs, each with the form it asks for. Press SPIN! and pick the right one from four:
Fifty-three of the irregular verbs used most – the ones every textbook lists first. The wrong answers are real forms of other verbs, so guessing from the look of a word does not help.
Your score
Score, In a row and Best run are kept beside the wheel. Start again puts the score back to zero:
Past simple, then past participle
The wheel opens with the past simple: went, saw, wrote. Switch on the past participle for gone, seen, written – the form after have – or play both at once:
The patterns that help
- Some never change: put, put, put and cut, cut, cut.
- Some change only once: buy, bought, bought and teach, taught, taught.
- Many end in -n in the participle: take, took, taken; write, wrote, written.
- A few follow i, a, u: sing, sang, sung; drink, drank, drunk; swim, swam, swum.
How to learn them
- Start with one group.
- Open Options and tick Take the ones I got right off the wheel.
- Spin until the wheel is empty – what is left at the end is what you do not know yet.
- Say the three forms out loud each time – go, went, gone.
