Let the wheel decide
Some decisions are not worth another ten minutes. Type your options on the deciding wheel – two of them or twenty, one per line – and press SPIN! The wheel picks one, and that is the decision:
The real trick: listen to your reaction
A deciding wheel works even when you do not do what it says. The moment it stops, you feel something: relief, or a small “oh no”. That feeling is your answer. If you were secretly hoping for the other option, now you know which one you wanted – go with that one.
So spin first, think second. The wheel does not need to be right; it only needs to make you notice what you already prefer.
Decisions people spin for
- What to eat tonight, or where to order from.
- What to do this evening or this weekend.
- Which film to watch, which book to start next.
- Who does what – who drives, who pays, who cooks.
- Which task first when everything on the list feels equally urgent.
- Small dilemmas – this shirt or that one, the bus or a walk.
Make it a fair decision
- Only put options on the wheel that you would really accept. If one of them is a no, leave it off.
- One option more important? Add
|x2to the end of its line and it gets twice the space and twice the chance. - Deciding for a group? Let everybody add one option, then spin once – and agree beforehand that the wheel has the last word.
- Best of three: spin three times, and the option that comes up twice wins.
Too many options?
Spin to cut the list down: tick Take the winner off the wheel and every spin removes one option. Keep the last one standing, or stop when you see one go and feel sorry to lose it.
Past winners shows what the wheel said each time:
