How to use it
- Pick a time – 30 seconds up to 30 minutes – or type your own:
7for seven minutes,7:30for seven and a half. - Press Start, or the space bar.
- Put it on the projector with Full screen: the figures fill the wall.
- When the time is up, the page rings three times and the figures turn red.
The ring empties as the time runs down and turns orange for the last fifth, so the room can see how much is left without reading a number. -1 min and +1 min change the time while it runs.
Ideas for the classroom
- Think, pair, share – two minutes alone, two in pairs, then the class.
- Tidy-up time – three minutes, and the ring shows how fast to go.
- Tests and quizzes – the time on the board, not in the teacher’s head.
- Presentations – five minutes each, the same for everybody.
- Brain breaks – one minute of stretching between two lessons.
The timer keeps to the real clock, so it ends on time even when the computer is busy or the tab is in the background. It works on a phone, a tablet and an interactive whiteboard.
