What is International Moon Day?
International Moon Day is a United Nations day on the anniversary of the first landing on the Moon, on the 20th of July 1969.
Ways to mark the day
- Look at the Moon through binoculars.
- Watch the landing: the old films are easy to find.
- Try the Planets Quiz.
How the countdown works
The clock counts down to the 20th of July on your own device’s time, so it reaches zero at midnight where you are. When the day is over, it starts again for next year. Full screen puts it on a classroom board or a big screen. To count down to something of your own, enter it under Your own event.
