How it works
- Type the chores, one per line. A number after a chore says how much work it is:
Bathroom 3is three timesBins 1. - Type the people.
- Choose a new rota every day, every week or every month, how many of them, and the first date.
- Press Make the rota.
What “fair” means here
- Everybody gets one chore before anybody gets two.
- Over the weeks, everybody does about the same amount of work – counted with the numbers, so the bathroom weighs more than the bins.
- Everybody gets their turn at every chore, and nobody does the same one twice in a row when somebody else can.
- With more people than chores, somebody has a week off – in turn.
Under the chart, Who does how much shows each person’s number of chores and points of work, so everybody can see it adds up.
On the fridge and in the phone
- Print / PDF – the chart, one row a week, for the fridge door.
- Calendar (.ics) – every chore becomes an event with the name of whoever does it. Import the file into Google Calendar, Outlook or the calendar on a phone.
- Excel, CSV and copy – for a shared spreadsheet or the family chat.
Families, flat-shares, offices with a kitchen and classrooms with jobs to share out all use it the same way. Everything stays on this device.
