How to play
- Type the names of the players, or just set how many there are, and pick the categories.
- Press Deal and pass the phone round. Each player taps, looks at their card alone and presses Hide it and pass on.
- Everybody sees the same secret word – except the imposter, who sees only the category.
- Take turns to say one word about the secret word. Not too obvious, or the imposter learns it; not too vague, or you look like the imposter yourself.
- Then vote: who is the imposter? If the group is right, the imposter can still win by guessing the word.
For the imposter
You know the category – animals, say – and nothing else. Listen, say something that fits whatever the others seem to describe, and blend in. Nobody must guess that you do not know the word.
More players, more imposters
Three players are enough; the game is best with five to ten. With a big group, set Imposters to two – they do not know about each other.
The words
Ninety-six everyday words in eight categories: animals, food, places, things at home, jobs, sports, weather and nature, and transport. Add your own categories under Your own words, one per line: Holidays: beach, tent, passport.
Nothing to install
It all runs in your browser, on this device: no app, no account, nothing sent anywhere. Your settings and the game in progress are still here after a reload.
