What is St. Nicholas Day?
St. Nicholas Day remembers a bishop known for his kindness to children. In much of Europe children put out their shoes or stockings the night before and wake up to small gifts.
Ways to mark the day
- Polish the shoes and leave them by the door the night before.
- Fill them with small things: nuts, fruit, chocolate.
- Do something kind without saying who did it, in the spirit of the day.
How the countdown works
The clock counts down to the 6th of December on your own device’s time, so it reaches zero at midnight where you are. When the day is over, it starts again for next year. Full screen puts it on a classroom board or a big screen. To count down to something of your own, enter it under Your own event.
