Fair pairs in a few spins
This wheel has two pointers, one at the top and one at the bottom, so every spin draws two names at once. Both are written under the wheel and taken off it, and the next spin draws from whoever is left. Keep spinning until the wheel is empty and everyone has a partner:
What it is for
- First-round pairings for a tournament bracket – table tennis, chess, FIFA, darts.
- Doubles partners for badminton, tennis or pétanque.
- Study buddies or project pairs in a class.
- Secret Santa style pairings, or who cooks with whom.
- Splitting a group into two teams: spin until the wheel is empty and put the first name of each pair in one team and the second in the other.
Put in your own names
The wheel starts with Player 1 to Player 8 so you can see how it works. Replace them with your own names in the box, one per line – paste a whole list at once if you have it:
Two, three or four per spin
Under Options, Winners per spin sets how many names one spin draws – the wheel gets a pointer for each. Three makes groups of three, four makes groups for a doubles round. Take the winner off the wheel is on, so nobody is drawn twice; untick it if the same name may come up again:
The whole draw, in order
Past winners keeps every pair in the order it was drawn, which is your bracket – first pair, second pair and so on. Take a screenshot or save it before you start the next round:
Next round
Back to the original items puts every name back on the wheel. For the next round, replace the names with the winners of this one and spin again. Your list is remembered on this device, and Save / load in the header moves it to another one:
