A real draw, spin by spin
Type the players or teams into Players or teams, one per line – up to 128. Every spin of the wheel draws the next one into the bracket, and the bracket under the wheel fills in as you go. In a hurry? Draw the rest at once finishes it in one click.
The bracket is as big as the next power of two – 8, 16, 32 – and the places nobody fills are byes: a player with a bye goes straight through to the second round.
Seeds
Put the strongest players in Seeded players, the best first. They are placed before the draw so that they meet as late as possible – the first two seeds only in the final – and they are the ones who get the byes, exactly as in a tennis draw.
Keep them apart
Players from the same club, class or country can be kept from meeting too early. Write each group on one line in Keep apart, separated by commas – Anna, Ben, Cyril – and choose the rule:
- do not meet in the first round
- do not meet in the first two rounds
- can only meet in the final
A drawn player goes to the next free place unless that would break the rule, or leave the players still to come nowhere to go – then to the next place that works. The draw can never end in a corner.
Play it
Once everybody is drawn, click the winner of each match and they move on, all the way to the trophy. Tick Play a match for third place for a bronze match between the losing semi-finalists. Changed your mind about a result? Click the other name – everything after it is worked out again.
Take it with you
When the draw is done, the bracket comes out of the page in whatever shape you need:
- Image (PNG) – a picture to send to the group chat or put on a screen.
- Excel (.xlsx) – a real workbook, laid out and ready to fill in.
- CSV – for Google Sheets, Numbers or anything else.
- Copy as text – for a message or an e-mail.
- Copy as table – paste straight into the cells of a spreadsheet.
- Print / PDF – the print dialog of your browser, where “Save as PDF” is one of the printers.
Everything happens in your browser and stays on this device: close the page and it is still there tomorrow.
