What is World Animal Day?
World Animal Day is held on the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. It is a day for animal welfare, and for the animals around us.
Ways to mark the day
- Give something to an animal shelter: food, blankets or some of your time.
- Spoil your own pet a little.
- Teach children how to treat animals kindly.
How the countdown works
The clock counts down to the 4th of October on your own device’s time, so it reaches zero at midnight where you are. When the day is over, it starts again for next year. Full screen puts it on a classroom board or a big screen. To count down to something of your own, enter it under Your own event.
