Who answers next?
Hands up is fair to the children who put their hands up. A wheel is fair to everybody: put your class on it, project it on the board and press SPIN!. The name it lands on is written under the wheel, big enough to read from the back row:
Put in your class
The wheel starts with Student 1 to Student 20. Replace them with your class list, one name per line – copy the column out of your register and paste it in one go:
The list stays on this computer, so it is there tomorrow. Keep one file per class with Save / load in the header:
Everybody once
Take the winner off the wheel is on under Options: a student who has answered leaves the wheel, so nobody is picked twice until everybody has been picked once. Back to the original items puts the whole class back:
Ideas for the lesson
- Cold calling: who answers the next question, who reads the next paragraph.
- Who presents first, who cleans the board, who hands out the books.
- Pairs for peer marking – spin twice.
- The student of the day, the helper of the week.
- End-of-lesson quiz: whoever the wheel picks answers one question for the class.
Who has had a turn
Past winners is a record of the lesson – who has answered, in what order:
