Which note is it?
Every segment of the wheel is a note on a staff. Press SPIN!, read the note and pick its name from four. The note plays as it is asked, and the โซ button beside it plays it again:
The lines and the spaces
- Treble clef, the lines from the bottom: E, G, B, D, F – “Every Good Boy Does Fine”.
- Treble clef, the spaces from the bottom: F, A, C, E – they spell FACE.
- Bass clef, the lines from the bottom: G, B, D, F, A – “Good Boys Do Fine Always”.
- Bass clef, the spaces from the bottom: A, C, E, G – “All Cows Eat Grass”.
- Middle C sits on one short line below the treble staff, and one above the bass staff.
Your score
Score, In a row and Best run are kept beside the wheel. Start again puts the score back to zero:
Treble, bass, sharps and flats
The treble clef is on the wheel when it opens, from middle C to the A above the staff. Add the bass clef, and the notes with a sharp or a flat in front of them:
Reading and hearing together
Every note sounds at its real pitch, so the quiz trains the ear as well as the eye: after a while a low G and a high G stop looking alike. Turn the sound up, or play in silence – the question is always the note on the staff.
How to learn them
- Start with one group.
- Open Options and tick Take the ones I got right off the wheel.
- Spin until the wheel is empty – what is left at the end is what you do not know yet.
- Then play the bass clef the same way, and the music theory quiz after it.
