A card off the top
Fifty-two cards, shuffled. Press DRAW and the next one is turned over. What is drawn stays out of the deck, exactly as it would on a table, so the same card cannot come twice – and Cards left counts down as you go.
One card or a hand
Cards per draw turns over up to five at a time: one for a card of the day, two for a starting hand, three for a quick spread, five for a poker hand. Shuffle the deck puts every card back and starts again.
What it is for
- A card game when the pack is missing, or one card short.
- Card tricks and teaching a child the suits.
- Drinking games and party games that deal a card each.
- Deciding something with a high card, which is quicker than an argument.
- Probability lessons: draw thirteen and count the hearts.
A fair shuffle
The deck is shuffled by your browser with the same method a careful dealer uses – every order of the 52 cards is as likely as every other. Nothing is stored anywhere but on this device, and reloading the page leaves the deck where you left it, with the cards you have already drawn still out.
Your own deck
The deck is the post’s: fifty-two lines, each a card and its name. A page with a different list is a different deck – a tarot deck, flashcards, a deck of chores – and everything else on the page works the same way.
