How to play
- Players take turns. Press any square that is not locked.
- That square locks in your color, shown with a dot. Nobody can ever take it.
- The free squares next to it, up, down, left and right, turn your color too, even if they were your opponent’s.
- The game ends the moment no square is empty. The player with the most squares wins.
Why the last gap matters
Colored squares can still change hands, so the game is really about when it ends. If you are ahead, fill the last empty squares. If you are behind, keep them open and take squares back, for as long as you can.
Tips
- Press where it takes the most. A square in the middle touches four others; a corner only two.
- Lock what is under threat. A square of yours next to a free one can be taken.
- Count before you fill a gap. Ending the game while you are behind loses it.
- On the bigger board, plan further ahead: it takes longer to fill up.
Against the computer or a friend
Computer (easy) looks only at its next move. Computer (hard) also looks at your answer. To play a friend, choose A friend on this screen and pass the phone. Against the computer, your wins and losses are counted on this device.
