Start the 25 minute timer
Working in blocks of twenty-five minutes with a five-minute break after each is a well-known way to get through a long task without burning out. Start the timer, work on one thing only, and stop when the chime goes.
Press Start and the countdown runs: big numbers you can read from across the room and a ring that empties as the time goes. Pause stops it, Go on carries on, and Start over puts the full time back.
A quiet signal at the end
When the time is up the page says Time is up! and plays a short, soft chime – three bell notes, twice – and the phone vibrates where it can. Untick Sound for a silent timer; the page remembers your choice.
What people use it for
- Study: one chapter or one set of exercises per block.
- Work: email, writing or coding without switching tasks.
- Chores: twenty-five minutes of tidying, then a rest.
- After four blocks, take a longer break of fifteen to thirty minutes.
Any other time
For the break, type 5 into Your own time and press Set; -1 min and +1 min change the time before you start. The space bar starts and stops the timer.
Full screen
Full screen fills a projector, a TV or a tablet with the countdown, nothing else.
