What is World Press Freedom Day?
World Press Freedom Day is a United Nations day that defends independent media, and remembers journalists who have lost their lives doing their work.
Ways to mark the day
- Read a long article from a source you trust.
- Check a story before you share it.
- Support local news, if you value it.
How the countdown works
The clock counts down to the 3rd of May on your own device’s time, so it reaches zero at midnight where you are. When the day is over, it starts again for next year. Full screen puts it on a classroom board or a big screen. To count down to something of your own, enter it under Your own event.
