What is International Mother Language Day?
International Mother Language Day is a UNESCO day for the diversity of the world’s languages, many of which are in danger of disappearing.
Ways to mark the day
- Teach a friend a few words of your language.
- Ask your grandparents for old words and sayings.
- Read something in the language you grew up with.
How the countdown works
The clock counts down to the 21st of February on your own device’s time, so it reaches zero at midnight where you are. When the day is over, it starts again for next year. Full screen puts it on a classroom board or a big screen. To count down to something of your own, enter it under Your own event.
