What is International Literacy Day?
International Literacy Day is a UNESCO day. It reminds the world that many adults still cannot read or write.
Ways to mark the day
- Read with a child for twenty minutes.
- Donate books to a school or a library.
- Volunteer with a reading program.
How the countdown works
The clock counts down to the 8th of September on your own device’s time, so it reaches zero at midnight where you are. When the day is over, it starts again for next year. Full screen puts it on a classroom board or a big screen. To count down to something of your own, enter it under Your own event.
